Dark sulfonated shale oil is an established substance in veterinary practice and has successfully been used in so-called “black ointment” for decades.

In 2007 ICHTHYOL-GESELLSCHAFT started to develop and to distribute products in Germany, containing pale sulfonated shale oil, for the treatment of animal diseases. Care products for horses, known as ICHTHO VET® SOMMEREKZEM and ICHTHO VET® SHAMPOO, are available in Germany in order to combat Sweet Itch. In November 2008 the new product ICHTHO VET® MAUKE for attendant treatment of Pastern Dermatitis was introduced on the market.

These products are distributed exclusively by your veterinarian in Germany.
